As seen on TV: The Forgotten Farm. Holwell is a haven for wildlife with over 500 acres of farm and open moorland that have been relatively undisturbed for nearly 1000 years. Howell is home to breeding Lapwings, Buzzards, Red Deer, Curlew, Woodcock and Snipe as well as a plethora of unusual mosses and floral species. In May the whole estate turns purple with the bluebells which are a sight to behold. One of the largest mires on Dartmoor runs through the estate and is also a magnet for wildlife. Venture out at night and you will encounter a variety of wildlife including foxes and badgers.
