Stargazing Holidays in South West England

The West Country is a fantastic place for a stargazing holiday, with an official Dark Sky Reserve in Exmoor National Park and some of the darkest skies in the country. Anyone can have a go – you just need a clear night and look up! You can actually see the Milky Way and count the shooting stars. Forget the yellow-tinged night skies of towns and cities; you’ll be absolutely amazed at the myriad of stars to see above you in the countryside.

All of Cartwheel’s holidays are in rural areas throughout South West England, so wherever you choose, you’re likely to see a lot more stars than you would usually see in urban and suburban areas. Some of our hosts are amateur astronomers, some have observations decks and can provide you with binoculars, telescopes and planispheres, whilst others can provide a touch of romance and luxury; bathtubs with extra large skylights and private hot-tubs in the garden to lie back and enjoy the night sky.
