Blandford Forum is a well-preserved Georgian town nestling on the banks of the River Stour in the northern part of the county of Dorset.
The town’s activities are focussed around the Market place where there are an array of specialist shops and on Thursdays and Saturdays there is a delightful town market. To find out more about the history of the town visit the Blandford Forum Museum located at Market place.
The Royal Signals Museum is also worth a visit at Blandford Army Camp as it retraces the history of military communications. If you visit in September, the annual Great Dorset Steam Fair is held in Blandford Forum, which is the largest display of steam tractors and stationary engines in the world.

Blandford Forum was largely destroyed during the Great Fire and was rebuilt by two Georgian architects in 1731. The churches of St. Peter and St. Paul, which were built in Georgian style after the fire, are alleged to have some of the finest architecture of that period. Just a short walk away, is one of the oldest buildings in the town ‘The Old House’ which was built before the Great Fire.
