Tucked away in the heart of the North Devon countryside in a secluded valley full of wildlife, Lower Hearson Farm is perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Our six self catering holiday cottages are surrounded by two acres of gardens making this a safe place for children and a peaceful haven for adults. Fun for the children during school holidays yet peaceful with lots to do for adults at other times of the year.
Enjoy the outdoor heated swimming pool (Easter to end of September), children’s play area and trampoline, and extensive grounds. You’ll also have access to the fabulous swimming and gym facilities at High Bullen Hotel, which is a fifteen minute drive away (payment is made direct at the hotel when you go to swim or use the gym).
If the weather is not so good, there’s plenty to keep the children entertained in the playroom; DVDs and books for you to borrow, toys and games to suit younger children, pool table, small snooker table, a table tennis table and table top football.
Get involved with life on Lower Hearson Farm and help us collect eggs and feed the sheep, lambs, traditional breed chickens, chicks and rare breed Oxford Sandy and Black pigs and piglets. You are more than welcome to join in, just remember your wellies! Our eggs and pork/sausages are available to buy.
Lower Hearson Farm is an ideal base for you to explore North Devon, the local sandy and surfing beaches and dramatic Exmoor National Park. Riding stables, fishing lakes and golf are all close at hand. There are also plenty of wonderful walks nearby. Take a stroll around the farm through ancient woodland and enjoy the countryside views, or just 2 miles from your cottage door will see you walking on the famous Tarka Trail at either Landkey or Bishops Tawton.
We would be happy to recommend some of our favourite places to eat and book you a table for your meal if you would like us to. Please ask us for details about having the following delivered to your cottage for your arrival:
- Excellent local meat, including homemade beefburgers and sausages, from our butcher in the village.
- A vegetable box from a local supplier.
- High quality, frozen ready-made meals produced as you would have made them at home by Cook Foods (featured in The Daily Telegraph)
- Tescos and Sainsbury’s groceries (we are always happy to unload your food into your cottage if it arrives before you do).
Lower Hearson Farm’s nearest village is Landkey, which has a local shop and pub. We are just five miles from Barnstaple with its wealth of shops, restaurants, theatre, cinema, leisure activities and weekly Pannier Market.
SPECIAL OCCASIONS
Are you celebrating your wedding anniversary, retirement, birthday or some special family date? You can order from us a celebration cake, chocolates, wine or champagne and a breakfast pack which can all be ready for your arrival. We are more than happy to help you with your arrangements. Larger family gatherings can hire a chef to cook a special family dinner.
Well behaved dogs are always welcome. As this is a working farm with livestock, dogs must be kept under control at all times. There are walks from your cottage into the surrounding countryside along with the many dog friendly beaches and coastal paths a short drive away.
